Formal Minister Isaac Adewole's son was abducted at gunpoint

Some unknown gunmen on Tuesday night abducted Dayo Adewole, who is the son of the former Health Minister, Prof. Isaac Adewole.

The military, police, security agents and local hunters were already on the trail of the kidnappers at the time of publication.

The former minister was forced to stop his trip abroad.

The kidnappers have not yet contacted the family about the motive and condition of the victim.
According to one source, Dayo Adewole was assaulted under gunpoint at his farm in Iroko, near Fiditi, in the local government area of   Afijio, Oyo State, around 6pm.

Although there were some employees with Dayo, the hijackers were to him as a primary target.

It was gathered that the kidnappers then took Dayo to an unknown destination.

A source revealed: "The villagers were notified by the team that survived the ordeal. Local hunters were mobilized by the Oniroko from Iroko.

"It was said that the hunters located the car of the hijackers along the road to the village of Iware, near Iroko.

"But they are still to locate Dayo's whereabouts. It was suspected that the hijackers might have switched vehicles after a persistent announcement on the  radio after Oniroko had raised the alarm in the air.

The results confirmed that the military, police and security agencies joined forces with the villagers to search for Dayo.

A senior official at the Federal Ministry of Health said: "We are in a bad mood with the kidnapping. Dayo was trained in agriculture and opted for agriculture.

"He runs his farm peacefully in Iroko until he is kidnapped by some gunmen on Tuesday."

Responding to a question, the official said: "The former minister went abroad last Thursday for recess, but is coming back. He interrupted his journey.

"The military, the police and other security agencies are at the top of the situation."
