the story of my first love(Episode 2)

“As I was saying, so I guess she is the most
brilliant student in this class, so respect her and
emulate her… You (pointing to Daniel) stand up
from there and sit with those girls (pointing to
the two girls sitting behind me). Princess join
those two at the front sit (pointing to me and
Cynthia)… you can ask her anything you don’t
know concerning your primary assignment in this
school (wholly directing her statement to me and
Cynthia but partly the whole class)… see you
later and face your study.” Mrs. Frank elucidated,
commanded and concluded.

“Hi.” Princess greeted.
“Hi!” Cynthia and I responded to her greeted in
unison. Cynthia adjusts herself and Princess was
able to sit by the wall. I was sitting in between
the two damsels feeling uncomfortable and
bumpy.
“Please, can you lend me your Biology note?”
She requested directing her question to me.
“Sure.” I replied and I brought out the note from
my polythene bag, she collected the note
showing some kind of irritating face.
“Thank you.” She appreciated with a frown face.
“Ola, weldone o, make una dey enjoy yourself.”
Daniel uttered from behind jokingly. I turned to
hit
him but mistakenly, my elbow hit Princess on her
jaw. She stood up in anger and fury; she was
really rage and frenzy.
“What nonsense?” She blasted already on her
feet. Her alarming voice drew the attentions of
other students; they were shocked and stunned
by the newcomer awful reaction. I was also
shocked and dazed by her reaction.
“Please I am sorry.” I uttered beseechingly.
“Ola… this is Cynthia part two o.” Daniel said
jokingly.
“It isn’t your fault na.” I replied unhappily.
“Ola, won’t you teach me that Chemistry topic
Acid, base and what again…?” Cynthia questioned
smiling.
“It seems the teaching staffs are having a
seminar today… we are free, so let do the work
together.” I replied returning her smile. Cynthia
brought out her jotter and her essential
chemistry textbook. I collected the textbook and
looked at the contents for the topic, I fished out
the topic and I begin with the explanation.
Princess was busy jotting down from my note;
she was really engrossed with her writing. She
has the best handwriting have even seen.
Shortly, she closed the book and handed over it
to me without uttering a word. She brought out
her Biology textbook opened it to a page
displaying the skeletal system of a human being.
“Ola…” Cynthia called back when she sense I was
totally carried away.
“Hmmm… oh, I’m sorry…” I staggered
unknowingly.
“So please continue, this is interesting.” Cynthia
commented as I continued.
“Although, there are different definitions of acids
and bases. These definitions doesn’t disagree
with one another, they differ in their
comprehensiveness. Apart from the already
established definitions of acids, bases and salts,
Antoine Lavoiser, Humphry Davy and Justus
Liebig as well discovered few things about acids
and bases, but they didn’t make their definitions
formal.
In 1884, Svante Arrhenius defined acid as any
substances, which when dissolved or liquefy in
water it produced hydrogen ion H+ as the only
positive ions.” I paused looking at Cynthia who
was already engrossed with my explanation off
hand.
“That is my friend, the young scholar…” Daniel
hailed from behind.
“So you are listening?” I asked surprisingly.
“Why I no go listen to my professor.” Daniel
alarming statement made Princess break-free
from her Biology textbook, she looked at
Cynthia’s jotter and she could see so equations I
have jotted on the jotter.
“Sha continue jare, I dey your back… Cynthia una
weldone o.” Daniel commented happily.
“Daniel, I don’t what your trouble this morning o,
since denied and even embarrassed me in the
bus so…” Cynthia gave excuses but unfinished.
“Can’t you keep quiet or talk with composure?”
Princes blasted loudly.
“Ehe! Abino, don’t interfere o, your attention is
not needed here.” Daniel returned loudly.
“I don’t blame you… you fool!” Cynthia returned
impiously.
“Please stop the argument… this is not why we
are here.” I cautioned and Princess threw an
irritated and aggravated looks at me.
“Poor rat!” She commented directing her
statement to me. I looked at her and shook my
head in pity.
I explained the untaught topic to Cynthia and
Daniel brilliantly. I even branched at some other
topics in the subject in which I guess they really
enjoy my undeniable lecture. They clapped their
hands for me after I ended topic.
“I love this topic… so interesting and
understanding.” Daniel expressed happily.
“Please, can we be doing this kind of tutorial
when we are less busy?” Daniel pleaded smiling.
“Sure, I would also love that.” I replied
affirmatively.
“Thank you so much Ola… I love you.” Cynthia
said smiling and sincerely.
“Love?” Daniel, Princess and I exclaimed in
unison.

a shaky voice.
“If they born you well don’t buy all those things I
send you.” He roared loudly. I shivered in fear as
sweat roll down from my head to my toes.

“What’re you still waiting for? Get me what I sent
you.” He barked.
“Leo, please stop screaming, it is detrimental to
your health.” The female senior cautioned.
“Thank you my love, this idiot is really sickening
me.” Senor Leo (the male senior name) replied
with an ugly face.
“You too, go and get what he sent you now, what
are you still waiting for?” The female senior also
concurred to Leo ugly assignment.
“Is better you kill me than for me to…” I later
voiced out after a moment of dumbstruck but
unfinished.
“Then you will have to die.” Senior Leo barged in.
Senior Leo moved closer to me, he was wearing
a wicked and mean face and he was unhooking
his belt at a time. I didn’t move an inch because
I have made up my mind to accept the
punishment than to break the school rule. Senior
Leo succeeded in unhooking his belt and he now
has the long belt on his right hand, he fold the
belt into two and He moved an inch closer to
me. I stay at a spot motionlessly. He raised the
belt up and he unleashed a lash on my head.
“Aaaarrrrhhh…” I groaned in pain moving back. He
raised the belt up again and was about
unleashing the second lash when an earsplitting
and deafening voice could be heard from a
distance.
“Hey!” The voice screamed from a distance and I
turned back to look at my savior behold it was
Daniel.
“What’s going on there?” He asked courageously.
“Are you asking me?” Senior Leo asked serenely.
“What if am asking you? Beside I am not asking
you, please, fine girl (the female senior), why is
he beating this innocent-looking guy?” Daniel
asked facing the girl. But, the female senior only
stood up from where she sat and moved closer
to Daniel, she raised her hand up in the air and
unleashed a thunderous slap on Daniel cheek.
Daniel staggered backward, but trust me, Daniel
never carries last. He swiftly turned to the
female senior and he unleashed four deafening
and boisterous slaps on both her cheeks with his
hands. The slaps sounded like the claps of loud
thunders. I sluggishly turned to look at the
female senior and I could see her in tears, her
face became red instead of yellow. Her beauty
faded instantly. I don’t know how I broke into
laughter. Daniel looked at me and he also smile.
“You slapped her?” Senior Leo yelled loudly.
“If you move closer to me, I won’t hesitate to
give you your own shares.” Daniel replied to
Senior Leo obvious question.
“What nonsense!” Senior Leo screamed as he
charged at Daniel. Daniel stood at a spot without
blinking his eyes. He fixed his gaze at Senior
Leo. Senior Leo showed his fist and unleashed it
in the air. Behold Daniel successfully dodged his
aimed blow. Senior Leo fall on the ground as
Daniel burst into laughter. Senior Leo was really
embarrassed, he get back on his feet and try his
luck again and Daniel succeeded in dodging his
fist but this time Daniel unleashed his own blow
which landed on his jaw. Daniel moved closer to
him and unleashed another blow on his nose and
blood could be seen coming out from his pointed
nose. ‘Next time, you won’t judge people by their
size. You’ll judge people with their strength.’
Daniel said not that audible. Senior Leo as been
defeated and he was sitting on the ground
motionlessly with his girl sitting next to him.
Daniel moved closer to me and he helped me up.
“Let go.” Daniel commanded dusting my cloth for
me.
“Let me give him his money.” I retorted.
“Which money is that?” Daniel asked serenely.
“The money he used to send me a message.” I
replied.
“Where is the money?” Daniel asked forcing a
smile and I handed over the money to him
without knowing his intention.
Daniel griped my hand and he walked directly to
the food vendor.
“Daniel… no he owned the money.” I tried to
plead to Daniel. But he turn deaf ear to all my
nags.
We got to the food vendor and Daniel order for
fifty naira rice with twenty naira meat and a
sachet of water and he was served by the food
vendor.
“Won’t you eat?” Daniel asked looking at me with
a mouthful of rice.
I sluggishly pick up a spoon and I sat down
facing him. I dipped the spoon in the rice and I
also eat from it. The rice was a delicious one
and we ate the rice in a jiffy. We share the pure
water and Daniel also used the remaining twenty
naira to buy garden eggs and we ate as we are
heading to the class.
“What really happen between you and that idiot?”
Daniel questioned eating his own garden egg.
I explained everything to him and he was really
angry. He wished he could go and get him one
more time and teach him another lesson on his
life.
“All this is because you’re too dull.” Daniel
voiced out with an angry look on his face.
“But, he is my sen…” I tried to defend but he
barged in.
“Senior my foot, if any senior try any rubbish with
me in this school, I won’t hesitate to break the
school rule… we juniors can’t be cheat, all
because they are our senior and they have
extreme authority over us.” Daniel explained
looking at the other direction.
“Thank you for coming to my rescue, if not for
you maybe he will still be beating me by now.” I
appreciated jokingly and Daniel smile.
“Where are you going when you saw me?” I
asked smiling.
“Actually, I was coming to meet you in the
library.” He replied.
“Library? Why?” I asked in disbelief because
Daniel has pledge not to come to the library. He
already has a foe in the library on his first day in
C.H.S.
“Can you believe Princess and Cynthia fights
each other because of you?” Daniel broke down
the latest.
“What? But why?” I asked in disbelief.
