Singer Burna Boy wins 2019 BET Best International Act award (Video)

Burna Boy was announced as winner of the category Best International Act in the 2019 edition of the BET Awards.

The hitmaker "Ye" was nominated alongside other Nigerian artists, Teni Makanaki and Eazi, in the very competitive category.

The mother and manager of Burna Boy received the award on their behalf.

In her acceptance speech, she said the message that Burna Boy has for every African in the diaspora is "remember that you were the  first African before anything else."

Last year, Davido won the category and for the first time was awarded his prize during the live performance in the 18th edition.

Other Nigerian artists who have won the BET award include Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, 2Baba and DBanj.
