Charlyboy pays a visit to Ikoyi prison and feeds over inmates

The legendary Nigerian artist and activist Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, popularly known as Charlyboy, celebrates his 69th birthday today.

Charlyboy, who likes to refer to himself as the president of all frustrated Nigerians, visited the Ikoyi prison and fed more than 200 detainees  as part of the activities scheduled for his birthday.

Accompanying him on his visit were members of the #OurMumuDonDo group,  Charlyboy and his Movement also helped facilitate the release of some prisoners awaiting trial for more than a decade or more.

In a post on his Instagram page, Charlyboy said he hopes his life has inspired Nigerians to never give up on their dreams.

He added that he was always committed to being his "authentic self regardless of people's opinion.

He wrote on his page:

"One of my late father's famous quotes."You can not have depth in anything Without dedication"
I committed to my marriage for 41 years with all the distractions of this world.

I am committed to showing young Nigerians how to never give up on their dreams, no matter what challenges they face.

I have been committed to my Consistency in seeking things that speak to my soul, regardless of enemies and evil interpreters.

I am committed to being the voice of the least favored (voiceless) and fighting injustice in any way I can, even when the people you fight for fight you.

I am committed to always being my authentic self, regardless of people's opinion, because Na only I Waka comes.

My people promise to pour me with gifts, praises, prayers, kisses and kisses ... "
