See what Cristiano Ronaldo told De Ligt after Portugal vs Netherlands match

CRISTIANO RONALDO told Matthijs de Ligt, Manchester United and Liverpool, to join Juventus after the defeat of Holland to Portugal in the National League final.

De Ligt appeared when his country lost 1-0 to the hosts, who won the trophy in their first year.

The 19-year-old defender is subject to intense speculation about his future with six of Europe's leading teams interested in hiring him.

De Ligt has already been chosen as captain of Ajax and helped the team to double the country in the Netherlands this season and in the semifinal of the Champions
 League.

His favorite choice of club is Barcelona with team-mate Frenkie de Jong, having already made the move to Catalonia.

Cristiano Ronaldo told Matthijs de Ligt to sign for Juventus.

But Manchester United, Real Madrid, PSG and Liverpool are also linked to the defender.

Juventus have also been heavily linked to De Ligt and their conversation with Ronaldo after Portugal's victory Sunday night drew attention.

The two were seen laughing after the match before Ronaldo patted De Ligt's head and exchanged words with the Dutchman.

Speaking to reporters after the game, De Ligt revealed what was said.

Cristiano Ronaldo and De Ligt participated in the final of the League of Nations.

Asked if Ronaldo told him to join Juventus, De Ligt told the Dutch publication NOS: "That may be true.

"What did I say? I did not get it at first. So I said ... no, I did not say anything.

When pressed, De Ligt admitted that Ronaldo asked him to join Juventus, stating, "I was a bit shocked, that's why I laughed.

"But I did not say anything.

Cristiano Ronaldo and De Ligt have faced each other three times this season.

Cristiano Ronaldo and De Ligt met in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

"Right after the game, you feel bad for losing, that's all you're thinking about."

Juventus are looking for a new coach after Massimiliano Allegri left the club at the end of the season.

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is being tightly linked to the contract, with some media reporting that the Italian will sign a three-year deal next week.

Manchester United star Paul Pogba is being singled out as one of Sarri's first signings, but adding De Ligt to the conversation would be a surprise to fans.
