Atletico Madrid are giving priority to a summer contract for Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani, according to a Cadena Cope report.
Cavani's contract in the French capital expires next summer and he scored 193 goals in six seasons in the French giants.
The Uruguayan international would be open to a transfer to Real Madrid, while Antoine Griezmann has already confirmed his departure from the club,
with Diego Costa also connected to a summer exit.
Last month, El Mundo Deportivo quoted a report from Spanish radio station Cadena Ser that the attacker will definitely join Atleti if Costa left.
Costa has been linked to a summer change to a Chinese Super League club, while there are reports of a downfall in the Atleti hierarchy.
The Spanish team refused to train with Atletico Madrid team mates once in April after the club opened a misconduct on its red card in Barcelona.
That dismissal prompted the former Chelsea striker to miss the final eight games of the season and lead to speculation that he played his last competitive
game for the club.
Lucas Hernandez, Diego Godin, Juanfran Torres and Griezmann have already confirmed their departure from Los Rojiblancos this summer.
